R.I.P. Teddy Pendergrass

Heaven got a new singer; and “there’ll be a sweet sound, comin’ down on the night shift”.
Everyone remembers the song that makes them first notice the singer. You can hear the beginning of a song on the radio, and change the channel looking for the artist you *really* like. That’s the way it was for me and Teddy Pendergrass…until I heard “Hope That We Can Be Together Soon”. I bought that record; and after learning Sharon Paige’s part, and pretending sing with Teddy while he sang to me (don’t judge…I was 17), I knew Teddy and I had some catching up to do.
So much of my “Philly stuff” is on vinyl; but, I do have one ‘essentials’ cd. You know the type…a ‘greatest hits’ cd you buy on the fly when you aren’t quite ready to replace all that vinyl yet…
